As I looked around for potential sires for Graydee I had three main requirements of the sire beyond the typical trainability and ability to mark well that we expect from trained hunting retrievers:
- Demonstrates impeccable line manners
- High drive in the field but calm and social around people; a pleasure to have around
- Have strong natural pointing instinct
Of all the dogs I’ve watched while attending training and hunt tests with Graydee over the past few years I realized that one dog kept standing out. That dog is Cal.
The fact that I frequently train with Cal and Cody has allowed me to get to know Cal and to watch him through the thick and thin of training and test days. And that gives me a lot of confidence about what to expect from this litter. So I’m super excited about this breeding.
